Voice & Vote: The Essence of Change is inspired by the upcoming 2020 general election year but more importantly, 2020 is a landmark year for federal voting rights.

2020 marks the 150th anniversary of the Fifteenth Amendment (1870) which gave the right of black men to vote following the Civil War. IT also marks the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment that endowed voting rights to women black and white.
